Well the time has come where I am regretfully placing my Jeep YJ Wrangler up for sale. If I could, I would keep it and buy an additional vehicle. However, I have no desire for car payments, so I have no choice but to sell in order to purchase my next vehicle.

The only reason I am selling my Jeep is because my family has a new interest in joining me on my outdoor adventures, and a Jeep Wrangler will not accommodate two adults, one child, one dog and all the required camping gear for a multi-day adventure. So a larger capacity vehicle is order - most likely a Toyota Land Cruiser wagon.

So if you’re looking for a pristine “Barbie” Jeep with lots a chrome so you can crawl the mall parking lot, keep looking, this Jeep is not for you.

However, if you’re looking for a Jeep Wrangler that has been specifically built for reliability and functionality for outdoor adventures or as a daily driver, keep reading. My Jeep, though not perfect in appearance, still looks good. You won’t be afraid of using this Jeep for as your daily driver and for all your outdoor activities.

Mechanically, my Jeep is sound. It’s my daily driver and could be yours also. No booty-fab modifications either. During the month of August, I completed two separate 500 mile overland adventures without any mechanical problems. My Jeep is serviced and ready to go for your next adventure.

Since I purchased the Jeep in 2004, I have methodically changed all fluids more frequently than recommended. I repaired almost everything that needed fixed (other than the list below), and replaced those parts that could leave me stranded. In the past two and half years, I put on approximately 9000 miles.

There are over $5000 worth of upgrades (not including labor) in the suspension, tires, bumper, locker, gears, etc. to improve functionality for your outdoor adventures.

If you frequently load your Jeep for weekend adventures, this Jeep will fit your needs. The suspension system provides for a firm, but nice ride when running light. Once loaded down with people or gear for a multiday camping trip, the Jeep rides even better and handle very well. There is minimal squat and the suspension articulates very well. No other suspension system even compares.

Known Defects:

  • Minor transmission fluid leak
  • Transmission temperature gauge does not read correctly (it stopped working three days after the warranty lapsed, most likely its the sending unit).
  • Speedometer shows higher speed than actual. Have GPS conversion chart. Need a 34 tooth speedometer gear to replace existing - approximately $25 part.
  • Paint and body not perfect but looks decent. There are small scratches, gouges and dents. The right front fender appears to have been straigtened out. No bondo that I know of. Diamond plate corners and rocker guards would cover much of it up. There is no oxidized paint, however there are areas that look like flat black where minor repairs may have been done in the past. The only known rust is at a seem between left side floor/wheelwell and on the driver side where the factory running board/step attached (around one bolt hole). The floor on the drivers side is pitted but solid.
  • Drivers seat small tear. Both seats show their age.
  • Rear seat is vinyl and does not match front seats. Tear in vinyl.
  • Steering wheel has signs of wear.
  • Minor rust on wheel centercaps. Minor rust on wheels.
  • Top in decent condition except for the left rear side window is cracked (could easily find replacement on eBay or Craigslist). All zippers function.
  • I do not have keys for door lock, tailgate lock or glove box.
  • No ash tray or cigarette lighter.
  • No interior accessory lighting.
  • Under hood light missing - wiring present.
  • Sun visors present but do not function.Cracked right side mirror.
  • CD player doesn’t work. Receiver OK.
  • No latch on console.
  • No rubber pad on brake pedal.
  • Front track bar has been removed but included.
  • No interior door handles.
  • CarFax available. The Jeep was originally purchased in Canada and imported to the US. I purchased the Jeep as a theft recovery rebuild in 2004. No accidents listed on CarFax. When I purchased the Jeep, it had no top, no doors, front seats only, bare metal floors, 28 inch tires, cracked exhaust manifold and a tuff country lift.
  • I think I covered everything but I’m sure there are some minor details I’m forgetting. Remember its a 14 year old vehicle.

Stock Jeep Wranglers are currently selling for higher than “blue book” values. Considering what has been done to my Jeep, my asking price is a bargain.

Don’t wait. Call and schedule a test drive today.
