Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest Announces Final Decision on Motorized Vehicle Use (Oregon)

MEDFORD, OR – January 20, 2010 – The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest has recently completed a Travel Management Plan that shows roads, trails and areas open to motorized vehicles. This week the Forest released a Record of Decision for Motorized Vehicle Use on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The Record of Decision designates Alternative 5 of the Final Environmental Impact Statement as the final decision on motorized vehicle use.

“This new strategy meets the purpose and need for the project, providing for a balanced, managed system of motorized use while addressing the environmental and social issues the agency heard from the public during the travel management process,” said Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest Supervisor Scott Conroy.

Wallowa-Whitman National Forest Motorized Travel Management DEIS Now Available

BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!

The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, located in northeastern Oregon, has released their Travel Management Plan Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for public review and comment.

The Forest Service (FS) is asking for your input during a 60-day comment period, which will end on August 18, 2009.The public is invited to suggest changes, provide new information, and offer other alternatives. Your comments will assist in completing the analysis for travel management, and following the FS review of the comments received, a final EIS will be issued with a Record of Decision detailing the decision points.

Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest Travel Management Plan

The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest (OWNF) is proposing changes to motor vehicle use on specific roads, trails and areas within the non-wilderness portion of the Forest.

Details of the proposed action, maps as well as a calendar of public meeting dates are available at http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/okawen/travel-management/

Deschutes National Forest Proposes Three Trails OHV Project

February 25, 2009 – The Deschutes National Forest in Oregon has published a notice of intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Three Trails OHV Project located on the Crescent Ranger District as part of the Travel Management Plan for the Forest.

Owyhee Travel Management Plan Released

OWYHEE TRAVEL MANAGEMENT PLAN EA RELEASED – COMMENTS NEEDED

BLM’s Owyhee Field Office has released their draft travel plan for the Murphy Subregion. If you looked only at the mileage table in the Environmental Assessment, you might think motorized recreation is getting a raw deal. The mileage table shows nearly a 1/3 reduction in available miles.
