Seattle, WA – Until now, users of the popular 34-spline Ford 9 3/4″ axle were limited to conventional differential choices. A compromise in performance, traction and handling was simply unavoidable. Fortunately, ARB has responded to the problem and now offers a solution that provides drivers with the best of both worlds. The newest Air Locker to emerge from ARB’s innovative engineering department may also be one of the company’s most highly anticipated model.

ARB’s patented 2-piece case design is manufactured from heavy cross sectioned nodular iron casting for virtually unbreakable strength. As with all of ARB’s Performance Air Lockers, the RD150 features ARB’s patented Time Gear Technology, which offers the highest locking strength while maintaining split-second unlocking ability. Internally, a steel reinforced, bonded seal has been designed to handle the most extreme climactic temperatures on earth complementing the competition bred strength of the locker.

Well aware of the demands necessitated by this competitive market, the Air Locker engineering department utilized the very latest CAD, CAM, parametric solid modeling systems, and finite element analysis packages when developing the RD150 Air Locker. This technology enabled Air Locker engineers to test a computer generated model in an unlimited number of virtual environments before the final product was developed. The results of ARB’s comprehensive development program are impressive to say the least.

With more than 6 million Ford 9 3/4″ axles on the streets in a variety of models, most notably the Ford F150, this locker is anticipated to be in demand. Pre orders are currently being accepted.

Seattle, WA – As a result of standardizing parts, ARB model RD152 has replaced model RD64. No other application range or performance advantages are gained in the update, and the RD64 locker will continue to be supported for spare parts and service.

Seattle, October 20/ ARB 4×4 Accessories – The Air Locker Test Gauge has been designed as an easy and effective way to determine the supply pressure and/or detect a loss of pressure in the air system of the ARB Air Locker or the ARB Air Compressor. It simply connects between the existing airline, and a “shop air” constant supply of up to 150 PSI.

Note: The Air Locker Test Gauge was previously offered as ARB part number ‘ALT01′ and is being re-released as a part of ARB’s new Air Locker Tools range of differential service/installation equipment.

For Immediate Release: ARB Air Locker Adjuster Nut Pliers

Seattle, October 20/ ARB 4×4 Accessories/ ARB’s new Air Locker Adjuster Nut Pliers are a professional tool that no differential installer should be without. Correct pre-loading of an adjuster nut type differential is an important yet often mishandled part of the installation and service of the differential. Incorrect carrier bearing pre-load can result in premature bearing failure, ring and pinion failure, and possible oil/air leakage issues in an Air Locker differential.

Attempting to pre-load an adjuster nut type differential has proven to be a common cause of incorrectly pre-loaded assemblies and/or damage to the adjuster nut or bearing journal surface. Unfortunately however, most commonly available adjuster nut tools have been designed to suit only a select size or make of adjuster nuts, and many will interfere with the overhang shape of the bearing cap, and so alternative methods such as the ‘hammer and chisel’ technique are sometimes used.

As a part of ARB’s new Air Locker Tools range of differential service/installation equipment, these pliers have been specially designed by ARB to easily and safety accommodate not only the full ARB Air Locker range of adjuster nuts, but also most OE adjuster nuts also, regardless of size, shape and bearing cap type.

For Immediate Release: ARB Air Locker Shim Driver Set

Seattle, October 21/ ARB 4×4 Accessories – ARB’s new Air Locker Shim Driver is a professional automotive differential service tool for installing/servicing common shim pre-loaded differentials. Insufficient carrier bearing pre-load can result in premature bearing failure and ring and pinion failure in all differentials, and possible oil/air leakage issues in an Air Locker differential. Most common Salisburry style axle assemblies (e.g., Dana Spicer model 44) require the pre-load shims to be tapped into place in order to achieve the required pre-load during set-up. Tapping shims into a tight space from a single point on the outside edge of the shim can cause damage to the shim and render it useless, resulting in extra cost and labor to the installation.

As part of ARB’s new Air Locker Tools range of differential service/installation equipment, ARB’s Air Locker Shim Driver is comprised of 6 different sized steel profiles designed to evenly distribute the installation force (from tapping) around the outside edge of a differential shim as it is tapped into place in the assembly. This allows thinner shims to be inserted into tighter places than would be possible without the Shim Driver.
