YES!!!
There are some neat roads to explore in Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield and Asotin Counties. Quite a few Forest Service roads as well as county roads. Some of the county roads run through draws, canyons and hollows between mesas of wheat fields and are really quite scenic. Lot's of old homesteads, huge deciduous trees planted by great, great, great grandma's and grandpa's, old windmills, winding streams, beautiful views and wildlife.

Columbia County offers the Blue Mountains in the Umatilla National Forest, the headwaters of the Touchet River as well as much of the Tucannon River, one of my favorite streams. A fun road to drive is a FS road that runs south of the Bluewood Ski Area and connects with other FS roads in Oregon. And for diversity you can drive through the wheat fields to the Snake River and Little Goose Dam. Towns are not one of my big things, but I do like Dayton; it's friendly and neat as a pin.

Do you mean Columbia county, as in NW Oregon , or Columbia Country, as in Eastern Washington?

Columbia County, Oregon? Nope, nothin' there!
Jerry

PS Just kidding. Columbia County, Oregon is known for the most appropriately named town in the state: Mist! Other than that I'll let Rich answer all the good stuff about Columbia County, Oregon.

Mike & Linda from Jewell, OR (Clatsop County, but close to Columbia County) are long-time members of Backroad Drivers Northwest and acquaintances of both Rich and me as well as others on this forum. Mike has worked for logging companies in the area for several years and with his knowledge of logging roads and other backroads he has suggested we hold some driving tours in that area. Due to illness and other family problems they have not been able to get around to hosting an event. Ken, if you are interested in contacting Mike just drop me a personal message with your email address and I will pass it on to him.
