Question WA_South West Coastal Area

My wife and i are beginning to explore the area across the Columbia River from us (we live near Astoria Oregon) which covers Pacific & Wakiakum counties in South West Washington. We will eventually figure out where to buy maps covering the area, and do have our Garmin MapQuest/Topo 2008 mapping software... but in the meantime, does anyone here have some favorite trails/roads up in them thar hills?

Thx in advance.
Thom

I haven't spent too much time in that area, but I have been driving on the beach a few times. Sand is always fun

Most of the Willipa Hill country is privately owned by large timber companies. I understand some roads are open to the public and run all the way through from Hwy 4 to Hwy 6, but I don't know which ones. There are a maze of logging roads in there. We have driven most of the public roads, and they are fun, but have never driven the private ones. I would be interested in joining you if you can locate some detailed maps and other info. It sounds like an excellent backroad tour!

LOL. "Sand is always fun" I sense your humor.
Somewhere in my files i've got a picture of a class A motorhome near the Peter Iredale shipwreck stuck in the incoming tide paste the wheel wells.
