Thread: Having our posts "POST" Immediatly

  1. Having our posts "POST" Immediatly

    Having our posts "POST" Immediatly.
First I'm New here, and no this isnt a rant, Its just a sugestion.

Im a little unsure why it takes a day to see ones post "POST".

Ive never been on a site where the admin had to approve every post. I would hope that we are all adults here, and therefore responcible enough to reconize the oppurtunity we have to have such a great "Local Adventure" Forum. and wouldnt abuse it. and if so, then admin could fire off a warning, if not listened to then restrict that persons ability.

I'm an active member of many the expedition portal's, Not one makes you wait for approval, and its pretty common to engage in a conversation with someone who is online and logged onto the same thread, especially on the weekends.

I posted a reply last night and it didnt post because it wasnt approved until this morning.

For me its confusing, Very confusing. I go to the thread and find its not there, so I either try to repost it as I did a thread I did. or just give up.

It wasnt until the third time that I saw the "Flash" that stated that your post will post as soon as the Admin has approved.

Sorry, I wouldnt want to be a full time babysitter of a forum.
especially here in the PNW, I belive that the more the word gets out, it will continue to grow. and that a good thing. This could rappidly become a full time job.

    Thanks for listening

  2. OK,

Did I miss something, I just wrote this and It POSTED RIGHT AWAY

or is this the open mouth and insert shoe thing

  3. The reason I moderate posts from all new users is cut down on the amount of spam that would otherwise get posted.

Everyday, I have to moderate several spam posts. I find that by monitoring the IP address of new users (by not approving new members outside of North America) and moderating the first few posts of a new user eliminates 99% of the spam.

As the forum grows, I have to find better ways to automate this process.

I hope this helps to explain the process.
