Default OBCDR Route 2

There is a new Discovery Route that goes from Crescent Lake east to Winter Ridge overlooking Summer Lake (Near the town of Silver Lake).

I am leading a trip to explore the area around Christmas Valley on Friday Sept 19th and then running the route to Crescent Lake on Saturday the 20th. Slight chance we will have to finish up Sunday morning the 21st.

Friday: Leave the Bend/La Pine area by 7:00am? and visit Big Hole, Hole in the Ground (hopefully driving to the bottom), Fort Rock, Derrick Cave, Green Mtn. Lookout, Crack in the Ground, Christmas Valley and perhaps driving over the hill to Picture Rock Pass using the beginning of Section 2 of the Route 5 Discovery Route. Stay overnight at Christmas Valley or Silver lake. Camping is optional.

Saturday: Leave by 8:00am and drive to Picture Rock Pass, up the ridge to the Fremont Overlook and then start Route 2 heading west to Chemult (about 90 miles). Assuming we get into Chemult with enough time remaining, continue on west to Crescent Lake.

Sunday: Finish the route if needed, head home.

Not a clue as to the type of roads but I expect lots of dirt and gravel with a few rough spots and unless it has been raining heavily there will be LOTS of dust.

This will be a all-comers trip limited to about 5 or 6 vehicles.

Default rt 2

You can put Jan and I down, Some day I would like to start in Sisters, take RT 4 to Senaca, RT 5 to Silver Lake, RT 2 to Cresent Lake, and RT 3 back to Sisters. Too many roads, not enough time....
