OUR LAST TRIP TO THE NORTH END OF THE L.T. MURRAY WILDLIFE RECREATION AREA. PHOTO BY STEVEN
More of the L.T. Murray
November 15, 2008
We haven’t seen all of the L.T. Murray Wildlife Recreation Area yet. This
time we will pick up where we left off on our last trek, at the forested
north end of the preserve. There are several unimproved roads we have
not driven, some narrow and brushy and all requiring the high ground
clearance of SUV’s or 4x4 pickups.
Depending upon weather conditions we will enter either through the
Wenatchee National Forest near Skull Springs or from the Thorp Prairie
lowlands to the east. I doubt there will be much snow, but in case there
is we will go as far as our vehicles will allow and call it a snow run. A little
white stuff isn’t going to stop us! Bring your kids, sleds (just in case),
plenty of bottled water and a tailgate lunch.
Meet at the Sunset Café (509-674-2241), 318 E 1st in Cle Elum,
Washington. Come early for breakfast and plan to leave at 9:30 AM.
Look for our vehicles with Backroad Drivers Northwest stickers and we
will monitor channel 22 on the CB radio.

HMM, this sounds like another camping trip![]()
Now to find a camping spot close enough to the end of the trip that participants will partake of some food and drink.![]()
Ahhh, say, Mr. White Castle, err...White Truck, err...Albino Burger...er...Phil, would it be possible for you to bring a bigger cooler and more food this time?We might be a tad bit hungrier and have several hundred more people than last time
![]()
Regarding campsite location, choose any camp ground that sounds appealing in the Cle Elum area. Perhaps the Ice Water Camp Ground on FR33, the Taneum Canyon Road or the Tamarack Springs Camp Ground located on the border of the Wenatchee NF and the L.T. Murray. Our entry and exit points will be close enough together that it shouldn't make much difference and if you want folks to stop by camp at the end of the day we can take the exit nearest your campsite.

I think I can feed a few people with 5 coolers of food(well 3 coolers of food and 2 of libations, or should it be the other way around?)
That litte BBQ will get quite a work out
I'll start looking into those campgrounds and post the selection. I'll also get some more poles for the 'blue tarps' should we encounter inclement weather![]()
AARRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!
I just found out I'm on call that weekend AND the City of Bothell is moving an old school house the night of the 14th and we have fiber in 3 places along the route.
No camping for me.![]()
