I'm sure our protectors in Olympia are talking about it at this very moment! Fortune Creek and Gallaher Head Lake are located within the Wenatchee National Forest so I don't know whether state permits could apply other than for regular vehicle licensing laws. As is in all NW National Forests the use of a trail head is subject to a Northwest Forest Pass. NO PERMITS NEEDED for the Gallaher Head Lake run.

In Oregon you do not need an OHV permit to run FS roads, just the OHV parks. You are fine in both state in the national forest with a licensed vehicle.

You're gonna like it, Troy. Good for you on the lift. Bring extra blankets if you are camping at the lake, it was cold at night for some in our group last month.

Ain't that the truth! Remember the lake is at 6000ft. It will probably be below freezing there this weekend. I slept in all my clothes AND wearing a coat inside my sleeping bag.

Good thing the Army supplies some great cold weather gear these days. I was just issued the third generation extreme cold weather system this past April over in Afghanistan. I will have to test it out at the lake . I will throw a picture of the truck up with the new lift tomorrow.

Cool on the pic AND the gear. Is anyone else planning to camp at the lake? Perhaps someone who has stayed there in the past can tell us a little about the camping area at the lake.
