Hey Dick, thanks for the info. I'll make sure and ask about the sinkhole when I finally get ahold of somebody at the FS who can tell me anything about the road.

I just had a few questions, I dont know if I am going to be able to make it on Friday night to camp but I wanted to know where and what time everyone was going to meet up in the morning. I have never done this run and do not know the area that well. Can anyone give me pretty clear directions to where we are to meet up?

Huckleberry Inn Directions

There is a slight change in plan. I've had some car troubles over the weekend so I'll likely be riding shotgun for this trip. I WILL still be leading the trip, just from the passenger seat instead of the drivers. So, look for a silver Tacoma at Huckleberry Inn on Saturday August 16th.
Hope to see you all there!

I'm not sure how far you plan on taking us, but I want to go all the way to Maupin. I was in Maupin this last weekend (rafting on the Deschutes), and I would really like to know where the Barlow road comes out there!

The plan is to go to Sherars Bridge which is actually not part of the Barlow Road. The Barlow road officially started in the Wamic area though there was a bypass that went through Sherars which is why we'll be going there. You can take the road along the river down to Maupin, I believe its only a few miles...

Default Hey all

Hey guys,

New member here. I am really looking forward to coming down from WA for this drive. I have a stock 05 4WD 4runner, does it look like there will be any issues with that? I have been through a 76 FJ40 an 03 and 06 Tacoma but this will be my first time driving a 4runner off road. As far as Trillium lake if I can't get a spot reserved is there just places to camp out and sleep without starting a fire? I'm looking forward to it.

You'll be good. Its mostly the minivan/car folks who won't be able to go. I say mostly because I think Tom (and Jen) are planning on coming and I know their van is quite capable.

Just BE WARE you'll probably get some famous Pacific Northwest pinstripping as Dick mentioned.

If you can't find a campsite at the campgound you can just keep driving past the turn off and cross the dam and there are areas you can camp but NO FIRES. We don't need to burn the forest down.

Which reminds me. I'd recomend (if its not required by then) that you bring a shovel, water container and fire extinguisher just in case.

Pin Striping isn't a big deal. The truck is white so it will be difficult to tell unless I take it all the way down to the metal.

Thanks for the tips on the campsite, I don't know the area one bit so that will help. I am going to punch some waypoints into my GPS before I take off as well.
