Reservations are probably a good idea. I showed up there about the same time last year on a Friday afternoon and got stuck with a somewhat lousy spot. Maybe we can coordinate to get a few spots together depending on how many people are going.

BTW were you with the FJ Cruiser group up at TSF today?

Oh nice, I was wondering if you were. I was in the group of cherokees with the orange Wrangler that drove into that hole

Default Camping

Well I just looked up the reservations for Trillium Lake for Friday night. All the reservable sites are reserved for Friday night. About half the campground is available as walk-up only meaning you can only get it if you're there.
I'm wondering if there is any opinion one way or the other about camping. Our options are A) reserve sites at Still Creek. Those are ALL still open. B) take a chance and hope we can get sites at Trillium, I'll be up there Thursday night so I might be able to grab some spots. C) To each his own and not make any group plan.
Lemme know what you want to do. The advantages of staying in a campground are of course that you can actually have a campfire unless there is a total ban plus you'll have a table and toilet.

I have Friday off, so I could theoretically get there by late morning. So I guess my vote is for B...take our chances. Worst case, I guess we could go to Still Creek if nothing is available.

Is there any sort of NF permit required to run Barlow?

So, Ryan, is there a Barlow Road Hotel and Five Star restaurant nearby?

Maybe we'll stay at the Best Western in Hood River and get up a little earlier than usual to join you guys at Government Camp or wherever. Depends on what time we meet. For that matter we could drive all the way down from Yakima on Saturday morning, but I think that would be toooooo early for a healthy young man in his prime, such as myself.

Evelyn and I are looking forward to the trip and also meeting up with you guys.

Hmmm, I just went and found site 017 was available for Friday night (8/15). Thats $17 for a tent site, not bad. But to reserve it costs $9? More than 50% of the cost of the site itself?

I'll just take my chances Friday morning and maybe end up camping at Still Creek. $9 reservation fee is ridiculous.
