Default Trip Report: Afternoon Hike to Greenwater Lakes, 9/16/15

Had some time this afternoon, so I drove up to Greenwater, Washington and decided to hike in the two miles to Greenwater Lakes to shoot some photos.

I haven't been into these lakes since I was in school when I hiked into Lost Lake with my Dad and cousin for a overnight fishing trip.

Even though you can occasionally see clear cuts above you on the hills, the Forest Service has done a nice job of maintaining the old growth forest along the trail and lakes.

The trail basically follows the Greenwater River up a canyon until reaching the lakes..

Due to a low snowpack last Winter, the lake levels are really low.

Rain was in the forecast, however it held off until I was done with the hike.

I even made a small fire near the lower lake, something I missed over the past few months because of the fire danger.

It was a nice day of solitude. I didn't see another person until I was nearly back to my Land Cruiser.

Looks like it was a good hike and good that you manged to be by yourself for most of the trip. That's and area that can see a lot of use. I usually end up on that same hike once of twice a year. It makes a good hike for a 6 year old kid with a lot of energy and an abundance of "lets go explore".
