Default remote lakes - So. WA/North OR?

I'm a little suprised at the lack of fishing threads here. Well, I'm fairly new to the backroads of the Mt. Hood/Mt. Adams area and am interested in finding some little lakes or streams that require a 4x4 to get too and are no more than 1.5hr drive from Hood River.... What better way to justify going 4x4'in than the float tube and fly rod in the jeep eh?

    Thx!

I've always liked Elk Lake, though I haven't tried fishing it. This Elk Lake is the one north of Detroit, bordering Bull of the Woods Wilderness. You can find lots of little lakes if you came down from Clear/Timothy. A bunch around Olallie. I am not sure of the exact travel time if you come down that way from Hood River.

edit: doh, well Google's estimate is 3h

Thanks esh. Looks like there's a bunch of lakes that area. 3hr is a bit much for a day-trip, but certainly doable for a weekend campout. The group of lakes by mt multnomah look interesting too, although not many roads. Thanks.

I'm just South of Hood River, a couple miles outside of Parkdale.
I just got my first fishing license last year for the first time in over 15 years, but really only used it twice, and caught nothing. Next year is gonna be different, dammit !!
I assume you know about Badger Lake. Unfortunately so does everybody else. But the ride to get there is awesome and well worth it, and it's not so crowded on weekdays.

    So....when do we go fishing?
