    4W613 Divide Ridge Run
    Sunday July 26th, 2009
10 AM at the Ahtanum Sno-park

Warning! Damage may occur to your rig.
This run is rated "More Difficult" and open to small 4x4 rigs. No full size!
Rigs with low ground clearence are not recommend due to big rocks and other things on the trail.

On Sunday July 26th, 2009 we are going to meet at the Ahtanum Sno-park for the 4W613 Divide Ridge Run. We plan to leave the Ahtanum Sno-park at 10 AM. Please be early to check in with the group if you want to come.

We will start off by running the Mid Fork Ahtanum road with stops at Eagle Nest and Darland Mountain. We will make our way down the North Fork Ahtanum Road and turn up the Blue Lake Trail. We will stop at Blue Lake and then move on up to Blue Slide Lookout for another view. From there we will head down FS1020 and onto 4W613. We will have a few view points a long the way. It will depend on time if we turn down the Strobach Mountain Trail or run 4W613 to Louie Way Gap. Either way we will come out at the Nasty Creek Corals were the paved part of the Ahtanum North Fork Road is. Plan on the run lasting until 5 PM or so.

Post up if you want to go and what you are driving and if you are camping the night before. Some of us will be camped for the Ahtanum Trails Clean-up on the day before. Everyone is welcome to come to the clean-up. For more info see: http://www.pnwadventures.com/forum/t...th-2009-a.html

Below is some info about the trail:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trail 4W613 at the Ahtanum State Forest and Rimrock border.
See info here: Ahtanum State Forest - Trail 4W613 Divide Ridge East

We run the 4W613 trail a lot. Our club even adopted it.

The views are great all the way along Divide Ridge. From looking down at Rimrock Lake and the Yakima Valleys on the other side to seeing 6 volcanic mountains from Darland Mountain at 6981 ft. Blue Lake is always a nice place for a break.

There are a few tight spots on the trail where you could get carnage. We did take a stock XJ down it once and it came out close to straight and would have if my son didn't back up into a stump. Full size rigs will not fit.

This run would have to be late July or August due to the snow drifts that like to stick around.

Let me know if you would like to do this run. More details to come.

Warning! Damage may occur to your rig.

Here are some run reports of rigs on 4W613 to show what you are in for. It should be mainly just real dusty on our run. We would also be running down the harder stuff to make the run a little easier.

How does Sunday July 26th, 2009 sound? The Ahtanum ORV Trails Clean-up is the day before.

Added rig pics and reports to first post to show you what you are in for. The trail is not to bad the way we are going. Less work out on your rig.

So is it possible with my moderate off-road driving experience that I can drive my slightly modified (with 31" AT tires) Toyota FJ Cruiser, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Explorer, Land Rover or Toyota 4-Runner without body damage? Do you recommend any particular guarding such as rocker panel guards (nerf bars)?

I would like to help with the Ahtanum Cleanup on Saturday, but I'm not a member of the club. Is that okay? How long would the run last on Sunday? Some of us may have to head for home in the mid to late afternoon so would it be fairly easy to reach civilization by then?

It can be done with 31 AT that time of year. Look at the pics to decide for yourself if you need body armor. The black Cherokee with 29's and no lift, no armor was down that trail twice and came out with one dent because my son backed to a stump. The bottom of the stock Cherokee did drag over rocks and stumps. My son did not have that much trail driving experience at that time.

As far as the make of rig, again see the pictures of the size rigs we have taken. The full size Chevy came out mangled. The Ranger pickup fit but it was tight because how long it was and because of the over side tires. Most small rigs do not get damaged. Things might happen not expected. That is what the warning is for. Full Size rigs will not fit without damage. If you are afraid of getting a dent, do not come.

The Clean up is open to everyone: http://www.aworc.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=6400

We are camping the weekend at the Ahtanum Sno-park and will have a meet and greet potluck after the Clean-up Saturday.

The run can be done within a few hours to all day. It depends how long people want to look at the views. We can skip the last part of the trail if need be by taking the Strobach Mountain Trail Down. It too is a fun trail. I drove my stock full size Blazer up it and to Dome peak without body damage. I blew a tire though. http://cegranch.com/all/2007-06/99-more-difficult-trail.html

Here is a picture of that run. It was my wife's first time driving up 4W613 though the rock climb and with 30s (LT245/75R16) and 4.5 lift:

I know I am. I was just looking for answers that others might be interested in knowing. And another question I already know the answer to is how do you pronounce "Ceg"?

Like the thing beer comes in. "Keg".
Ceg short for Clayton E Graham. Clayton starts with a "K" sound.
