[IdahoStatesman.com] They’re spicing the gray-green landscape of the Boise Foothills, especially with the advent of the big, yellow arrowleaf balsamroot, which is popping up all over. Arrowleaf balsamroot, above, comes in clusters on hillsides. Look closely at the petals of the plant that seems to always be facing the sun. You’ll also see phlox, left, in the Foothills this time of the year but you have to look closely for the tiny flower. Any of the Foothills trails should have displays of some kind of wildflowers.
