BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!
If you've been on our Action Alert list for a while you know that Blaine County and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) have been working together to develop a new summer and winter recreation and travel plan.
The BLM and the County recently released the results and recommendations of a working group that has been meeting on and off for nearly 2 years. The recommendations are now online at
http://blainecounty.org/.
Blaine County's website has some pretty cool interactive features including the Summer and Winter Zone maps. These maps were produced by Sam Young in Blaine County's GIS department. Click on a colored box in the legend and the Zone explanation will pop up; and you can click on a Zone name in the sidebar, Table of Contents, or in the text and it will bring up the Zone or Matrix description.
The original paper maps and other information are available from the BLM and at the Blaine County Courthouse (in the meeting room or hall).
Public hearings will be held TODAY (October 30, 2007) at 6:30 pm and Wednesday, November 7 at 1:30pm upstairs in the Blaine County Courthouse Meeting Room.
Anyone recreating in Blaine County should take this opportunity to review the proposals and make comments. For more information contact Lili Simpson, Project Coordinator for Blaine County at: 720-3666, or John Kurtz, Recreation Planner at the BLM:
John_Kurtz@blm.gov or 208/732-7296
PLEASE, IF YOU RECREATE IN BLAINE COUNTY, GET INVOLVED NOW!
Thanks in advance for your involvement,
