Default Another Seattle new person

Hello all,

My name is Alan and I thought it was probably time to make an introduction.

I live in north Seattle in the Maple Leaf neighborhood not too far from Northgate mall. I signed up for the forum way back in December of 2006 after seeing a post on the 4WDTrips forum, but have only been an reader so far with no posts.

I know Mick (RidgeRunner) from the 4WDTrips forum and a trip we made last fall on the Applegate Trail.

As far as vehicles go, I've got a Toyota 4Runner and a Tacoma. I've been using the 4Runner on my infrequent trips, but started converting over to the Tacoma last year in the hope that sleeping in the back of the Taco and carrying all the "stuff" I seem to tote along would be a bit easier. Like all my projects, that has been a slow process and I'm a long way from having it done. In the meantime, neither one is really ready for anything serious since I've taken things off one and not finished putting them in the other - at least permanently.

I'm kind of the "black hole of projects" - I start them, but they never get finished. I guess that's what happens when you dabble in old tool collecting, woodworking, a bit of metalworking for various projects, ham radio and other electronics stuff, and then all the miscellaneous things around the house.

I enjoy moderate roads or trails and like to learn a bit about the history of wherever I'm going if I have time.

By the way, I grew up in SW Idaho (moved to Seattle after college 30+ years ago) and the Owyhee trip is something I would love to do since I like that area, but I'm just not going to be ready for that with a basically stock truck at this point. I do have a Volvo C303 that wouldn't have any problem with 2 foot water or really rough roads, but it isn't ready either (another one of those unfinished project stories..) and its a looong drive in one of those.

I guess that's enough for now, but I thought I should say hello since I was thinking about the Ice Age Floods trip if it isn't booked up already and if I can manage to get things ready in time (like installing one of my CB radios in the truck).

Hi, Alan, welcome to the forum! We have several Backroad Drivers tours coming up and it sounds like your rigs are more than adequate for most of them. Hope to meet you on one of the trips.

Welcome, Alan, good to see your smiling face...

If you decide to do the Floods trip, I'll bring my handheld CB with a mag mount if you need it, that should work well.

BTW, I'm sure your Taco would do fine on the Owyhee trip. I've seen it and you in action.

Mick

Welcome to the forum Alan.

I think all of our vehicles are a work in progress like yours.
