| Hi , I've been enjoying your forum now for a couple months and thought I better join....My wife and I have been cruising the backroads of North and Central Idaho, Northeast Oregon, Eastern washington, and a little of eastern Montana, for several years now in our modified fj40. We do anything from pavement to extreme off-roading and drive it where-ever we go. We are looking forward to sharing our experiences, and meeting new people and new places...thanks for having us....Rod and Kim...

| Hey welcome, Rod & Kim, hope you enjoy the forum. I'm new also but sure seems to be a good place to hang out. My wife & I are from Idaho also (Grangeville originally) and were through Lewiston last summer on our way to the Magruder Road. Nicely equipped TLC, got pix???? Mick

| Welcome to the forum. It's great that we have folks from Idaho posting on the forum. I look forward to hearing about your adventures (and your 40 series too). Steve

| Thanks for the warm welcome...Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to put some pics of the cruiser on here...kinda new to forums...Just want to say we are looking forward to maybe hooking up with some of you and sharing some great adventures..I would love to put together a trip over here somewhere....lots of cool stuff here Soggymountain. RidgeRunner, you and your wife are from some of the prettiest country in America and we are planning on doing Magruder this summer. And Steve ,thanks for a great forum...I am president of our local 4X4 club (Timber Tramps) and theres not very many rigs in our club that are able to travel long distances and must be hauled so during the summer we sneak of on our explorations without them hehe..and this forum seems to be right on target for us ...Thanks again and have a great day...Rod

| Rod, if you travel the Magruder try to do it early. I've done it right after it opened one year and it was beautiful. If you wait until mid August as we did last year, you may not see much because of the smoke. ![]() The FS in Elk City or Grangeville will have current info on when it opens, usually early July. That would be a great trip, you can go over the Magruder (which parallels the South Nez Perce Trail and back on Hwy 12, or Forest Road 500 if you have the time, which parallels the North Nez Perce Trail (which was the Lewis & Clark route) ...Piece of cake and both are very historic. ![]() Mick

| We did both the Magruder and Lolo in September and had snow the entire length of both routes. Unfortunately the snow clouds obscured the view most of the way. If you recall Lewis and Clark's party almost died in a blizzard on the Lolo trail in September. Jerry

| We did the Lolo Motorway two years ago in june, It was absolutely outstanding. It was early enough there was very little smoke and you could see for miles. When they said it looked like a sea of mountains they were right. We spent two nights on the trail and a third at Powell. Got to do a little exploring and even swim in a couple lakes..Brrr.. This year we are gonna do St.Maries Id. to Avery , over Moon Pass through the 1910 fire area to Wallace , then north to Murray then up over Thompson Pass to Thompson Falls , then south through Missoula to Darby Then Magruder then home..Thinking 4 or 5 days ....Rod
