Default Oak Creek Wildlife Area (Feb 3rd, 2008)

Sunday we took the kids out to see the animals at the Oak Creek Wildlife Area Feeding Stations.

Bighorn Sheep Feeding Station

There were a few deer here for a free lunch too.

Neat pics, Clay. I'll bet the kids loved it. And not just the kids cause it's pretty impressive to everybody. Thanks for the photos.

You don't get to see so many animals up close like that very often. Looks like a neat place to visit. Too bad it wasn't a little closer for me. Thanks for sharing.

Anytime you want to do some exploring up that way, please let me know. Weekends OR weekdays. There are a bunch of roads up that way that need my footprint. We drove up the Bethel Ridge Road from just past the Elk Feeding gate to the top and continued west along the ridge to the towers, but I have never gone back the other direction toward The Nile. There is also a road that goes right through he feeding area that doesn't open until quite late because of elk migration.

Last summer I made the journey from the Bethel Ridge to Rattlesnake via Oak Creek during my epic cross state drive.

See http://www.pnwadventures.com/adventu...ay-two-081107/

I only made my way back to SR410. There were a lot more areas I didn't get a chance to explore.

As in most of the state's wildlife areas, very little markings, green dot roads, and roads that have been decommissioned. A great time to work on your navigation skills.
