    Divide Ridge 4W613 Run
    July 26th, 2009

On Sunday July 26th, 2009 we all met up at the Ahtanum Sno-park around 10 AM.
I had Greg Mackey from the DNR riding shotgun. My 5 year old son "Bubz" took the back seat.

We headed on the Ahtanum Mid Fork Rd. (A2000)

We stopped off for a look at Eagle Nest.
Across on the next ridge you could see where the Green Lake fire was a few weeks ago.

Next we stopped on Darland Mountain (6981') where we could see Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood a little.

We headed down the North Fork Ahtanum Rd. and turn onto the Blue Lake Trail.

We turn onto 4W615 and ran it to Blue Lake.

Then we the climb 4W615 up to Blue Slide Lookout.

It looks like RollerBear wondering where he put his keys. LOL

Next we ran FS1020 and then onto 4W613.

We stopped at the 4W613 Lower Meadow so Greg could see the work the All Wheelers Off Road Club did there.

Greg added a Grey Rock sticker to a Green Dot Marker.

Here we are passing by the Dome Peak Trail.

At the 4W613 Upper Meadow we took a lunch break.

The next stop was at the Strobach Mountain Vista.

zjsheller needs to come back and wheel after the snow falls.

We will get Dirty-Toys out there too.

We decided to skip the end of 4W613 to Louie Way Gay and just run the Strobach Mountain Trail down.

On down the Stroback Mountain Trail we stopped at C1000.

Why is everyone looking like they are angry at me? Could it have been that last rock covered trail? LOL

The kids and dogs looked to have a good time.

JDavis took Cowiche Ridge down to save some time.

The rest of us ran C1000 down and onto A5000 to Nasty Creek Corals.
That is where we aired up and parted ways.

This was a very fun run thanks to all that came.

It looks like you guys had a great time and I wish I could have been there. It has not been a good year for backroad activities in our household. But, it was neat seeing a few PNWBA folks show up especially after the enthusiasm expressed when the run was first announced. And even though I did not attend I want to thank Clay for leading the run. In case you didn't know it, he was sick and should have been home in bed where he is now. Thanks Clay!

I enjoyed it. I have laryngitis now. Lucky I didn't have it over the weekend or that would have been hard to talk on the CB.

It is no big deal. I just hope I didn't give my cold to the DNR guy.

Roller Bear it great to meet you. Your help on the run was greatly appreciated, especially getting up the hill from Blue Lake!!

Here are some photos Melody took on the run.

    Views from Eagle Nest

I think this was taken from Darland Mountain.

Josh and Floyd leading the way. Thanks for not kicking up too much dust

The pups cooling off in Blue Lake.

Josh and Floyd leading the way out of Blue Lake.

CEG, Greg and Josh enjoying the view of Mt. Rainier from Blue Slide Lookout. Well at least I think it is Mt Rainer. It could of been Adams or Helens. Spectacular Views on this run!!!!

Blue Slide Lookout. This looks the Mt St Helens

After Blue Slide Lookout the trail started to get tight.

Josh threading his way through an interesting stand of burnt trees

CEG and Floyd leading the way.

Floyd getting it done through tight spot. Blurriness comes from the fact it was getting bumpy

    Rim Rock lake

We headed down Cowiche ridge to save time. Well, we all know how that goes. We got lost twice but hey that is half the fun. We finally made back to our campsite on 410 just after dark.

We hooked up the camper to make the final run back to Seattle and wouldn't you know it!! None of the running or brake lights on the trailer worked . By this time it was pitch black and we did not want to run over Cayuse pass with out lights on the trailer.

I managed to find and fix a loss wire in the trailer plug and the lights started working. I was feeling pretty good about myself as we pulled out on to 410 . Then about 50 feet down the road Melody says, the lights on my side of the camper aren't working . I look back and all the lights are out again. So, we pulled over at Lodge Pole campground and spent the night.

All in all a great trip!! Thanks to everyone who attended and made it so enjoyable.

Is there anything remaining of the Blue Slide Lookout? Found a couple of old pictures of it on the internet but basically sounds like it was destroyed 1971???
