No worries! The Ice Age Floods tour post that mentioned the 2M frequency with the comment "monitor only" threw me off is all. (And here I was all excited to see what sort of voice-activated mic system you had on your Ham radio!)

I'll make sure I get my CB working clearly enough by then.

All of this talk about amateur radios has got me thinking again. A friend of mine has a loaded IC 7000 for sale with all mods and antenna tuner. I am thinking bout buying it.

Everything I have read and comments I have heard from other hams indicate that the IC-7000 is the best all band mobile radio on the market - hands down. I hope you can make a deal.

The deal is a good one, but I just can't decide if I want to spend the money. I guess if I decide different later, I can always get my money back. It is cheap enough that I might be able to make something on it......

Probably should go ahead and buy it, but the old age indecision has kicked in......

The nice thing about an IC-7000 is that it can be used as a quality base station as well as a mobile - like 2 radios in one. The radio has almost as many bells and whistles as a full size HF transceiver. I suppose the programming is fairly complicated, but if you start out using it just as a 2 meter mobile, i.e. programming several repeater frequencies, tones, etc, then begin working into the other bands with various filter combinations, a little at a time, it would get easier and easier. Boy, if the price is right there may never be another deal like it. Universal is selling them new for $1,299 including a $200 rebate, a separation kit and a free Icom ball cap (for what that's worth).

He wants $900 for it, which is a decent deal, but it has the MARS and TV mods, it includes the separation kit, a swivel mount, and an At-7000 auto tuner. So with all the stuff, it seems to me to be a pretty good price.

In addition it comes in the factory boxes, packing material, and all books. It also comes from a no smoking household..........

All in all I guess I would be nuts to not buy it.......but there is still that old age indecision thing......

The add-on's come to, what, $300? So that makes the radio a total value of at least $1,600. I'd say the price is very right. And you don't find many used IC-7000's out there - I know, I have looked.
