Truck Bed Camper vs. Trailer Camper?

Fellow Adventures - I have a vintage Jeep Gladiator Pickup I'm setting up as my adventure vehicle. Since this is my first adventure vehicle build I'd like to draw on the experience of the group. My question to the group... What would be the better choice for a camper, a truck bed camper or a tow trailer camper?? I'm swapping the stock V8 running gear out for a modern GM 5.3 liter V8 running gear from a 1500 pickup. So towing power shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your input and guidance. Cheers....

I have never towed a trailer but I would think you would have to give extra thought how you might back out/turn around when you are driving thru 'interesting' portions of a track/trail.

That being said, I am a big believer in the KISS theory and to me a trailer would mean I was taking too much crap.

If I had kids with me then I would seriously be looking for a trailer.

Welcome from another Jeep owner. Gotta love those old Jeeps! I like the idea of a trailer because you can park it at camp and use the tow vehicle for touring........... Although I don't think there are any wrong answers. You pay your money and you take your chances!

Yeah it really depends on what kind of run you plan on doing.
For me doing things like the Christmas Valley run I would want a trailer. Leave it in camp and go play on the dunes without the extra weight.
I'm still a tent camper though.
A full on bed mounted camper I think would just get in the way. But if it's just a canopy top with an air mattress in the bed you are thinking of. That might be just the ticket.
