Thread: Pett Toilet

  1. Pett Toilet

    THE PETT TOILET
    http://www.thepett.com/

We purchased a Pett Dry Toilet System several months ago (like a year) and I am just now getting around to trying it out. So tonight I set up the PUP Privacy Shelter (tent) in the glow of the porch light and without reading the instructions. The tent went together in a snap. I took it down in only a few minutes and after folding it up it actually fit into the storage bag. So far so good.

I will read the instructions before testing the toilet and will do so in the daylight...in the house...in privacy...and will spare the details unless things don't go well.

  2. We have a Pett. Used to have the tent also but considered it a PIA so sold it.

The Pett works well. It is a little too low to the ground for me. I have purchased some bed raisers to put under it but have not tried that setup yet.

We get about 3, maybe 4 uses out of a single bag. This is when we are in a group. I recommend peeing in the brush first. You will probably need a separate container to put the used bags in.

I am experimenting with a more compact system but have a few 'refinements' to test out.

    I prefer the freestanding method.

  5. I've always been more comfortable with the log seat method, though I have used the other techniques when required.

By the way, sorry if this highjacked your thread Jerry.

Some great reading there. Also check out some of the other preferred books within this line of topic.

  9. Alright brothers, in all seriousness I feel compelled to add to the conversation in a constructive manner.

As an Over The Road driver for a bit, you needed to get "creative" about bowel movements, and sometimes find inventive ways to "take care of business" out in the middle of nowhere.

I found this little diddy in a Cabela's catalog a long while back, and finally ordered it.

OMFG, what a lifesaver. I cannot tell you how many times it's saved my @ss (or at least the contents therein).

And, versus the above mentioned, it appears to be MUCH more stable a commode for those more "hefty" members.
