As for small CB, I am told the Uniden PRO 510XL or the PRO 520XL, are good and loud right out of the box. The only complaint I have heard is the possibility of a proprietary mic connection, excluding a quality aftermarket mic. My CB is a great little CB; but it does need a powered mic. I bought my CB through
http://RadioActiveRadio.com The best CB won't work worth beans, unless the antenna and cable are mounted properly. If the system only works at 80% of its optimum performance, it should be fine for the trails.
