A little later in the year, I'm going to try to talk Jerry into leading a trip around Manastash Ridge from teh I-90 side. I also want to drive into Lester-Stampede pass this year.

The next nearest off road area is Evans Creek on the NW corner of Mt Rainier, out of Wilkeson.
I will do my best to accommodate you, but you should know we can no longer drive into Lester. The old town site is located within the City of Tacoma water shed and the roads are gated. Forest Service roads cross Stampede Pass as well reach the top of Yakima Pass, cross Meadowbrook Pass, Tacoma Pass and Green Pass; all located within a few miles of each other.

Maybe I can twist my friend Clay's arm to help out in guiding us around the Manastash Ridge area. If we are talking Ford Explorers on 33" tires we can go most places on Manastash, otherwise our route will be limited by vehicle size and modifications.
