Fantastic! You will have plenty of time for anything we plan. I am still putting some finishing touches on the Friday drive, subject to further input, but here's what it looks like so far:
Friday: Meet in Ontario, drive W on Hwy 26 to Harper, turn SW on Crowley Road (pasing Skull Springs and Crowley Ranch), cross Hwy 78 and continue SW on Fields-Denio Road (passing Alvord Ranch, Alvord Desert and southern side of Steens Mtn), continue south and take the Whitehorse Ranch Road NE (passing Whitehorse Ranch) to Hwy 95 where we will continue toward Jordan Valley. It will be a LONG day and lots of miles.
Saturday: Meet in Jordan Valley, drive W on Hwy 95, turn S on Three Forks Road, cross the Owyhee River at Three Forks and continue on dirt roads the rest of the day. There is a bridge at Three Forks, but other crossings my necessitate fording the river.
From this point onward I will need to know whether participants can camp out or will need a motel. There are literally hundreds of miles of dirt roads, all poorly marked, and it is a given that we will encounter rough, slow-going roadway and make several wrong turns so we will need as much time as can find for driving. Camping out would be the best thing time-wise. We assume we will have all day Saturday and Sunday to explore and some of us can stay through Monday as well. One of our goals is to reach the corner of Oregon/Idaho at the Nevada border.
Help! If you are planning to go I need your input to wrap this up.
