Trip Report – Mt Baker South Side Run (Washington)

Posted on the forum by Chris.

The trip was actually back in October, but I haven’t seen any write up, so now that I have internet up and running, I thought I would get one going.

The trip started at the Lymen Cafe off HWY20, though several of us met up getting gas at the 76 prior to that. There was a grand total of 6 rigs making this trip; Mark< backwoods3> out front, then rickey8587, followed by tjguy98 down from Canada. Joshua< mountain ox> was then infront of my wife, Krystal, and I brang up the rear.
The weather wasnt the best as for as really seeing the sights goes, but it wasnt raining and we had some sun.

Trip Report: All Wheelers Thanksgiving Snow Run (Washington)

Posted on the forum by Ceg

On Saturday November 28th, 2009 we meet up at the Tampico Church for our annual Thanksgiving Run. We headed up the South Fork Road and found a place to pull off to air down.

We followed the South Fork Road all the way up and onto the Sedge Ridge Trail. We ran the trail up towards the Cultus Hole Rim. I (Ceg) broke trail until I could not make it up the double hill climb. Colemancooler was riding shotgun with me and took this picture of me getting ready to give the hill another run.

Trip Report: Snow Play Snoqualmie Pass and Easton (Washington)

Posted on the forum by ricky8587

The “Wetsiders” were at it again running up Denny Creek to Snoqualmie Pass and then heading a bit further east to Easton for a little run up FS-140 and 41 (washed out)

Here’s some video I shot starting on the upper part of Denny Creek road as we paused under the west bound I-90 overpass heading for Snoqualmie Pass. It was raining pretty much ALL freakin’ day and the snow was real heavy. The berm at the top of Denny Creek is from the snow plowing the road to Alpental Ski area. After running up FS-140 out of Easton we came back to Snoqualmie Pass and went BACK over the berm and down Denny Creek road in the dark.

Tour Announcement: L. T. Murray Forest Roads, 08-21-09

August 21, 2009 (FRIDAY)

Posted by Jerry on the Forum.

The L.T. Murray Wildlife Recreation Area covers thousands of acres and is dotted with many and varied access roads, some of which we have already explored with PNW Backroad Adventures. But, there are others including the Tamarack Ridge Road, Page Pasture Road, North Riggs Ridge Road and Tar Paper Flats Road that we have not explored. And if there is time we plan on taking the Durr Road to Umtanum Ridge and driving a road heading toward the Yakima River Canyon in hopes that we have a good vantage point above the river.

Most of our travels will be in scenic sparse pine forests that offer occasional views of the Thorp Valley and meandering creek bottoms. Road surfaces will be a mix of gravel, dirt, heavy pit-run and bed rock. Stock SUV’s and pickups should work fine. If time permits we plan on driving to the South LTM to drive a sagebrush route to a ridge above the Yakima River.

Bring a sack lunch, plenty of drinking water, snacks, etc. and be advised that there are no restroom facilities so please plan ahead. Primary communications will be via CB Radio Channel 22 and secondary communications via VHF Amateur Radio 146.580MHz simplex.

We are meeting at the Thorp Fruit and Antique Mall, Exit 101 off I-90.

Arrange for breakfast on your own prior and join us in the parking lot before our departure time of 9:00 AM. There is a service station next door in case you need to top off.

Remember, this is a FRIDAY event and we hope to see you there!
